Recent Work.Global Terrorism Data & Varieties of Democracy Data, MERGED!
In Spring 2023 Professor Keiber and his Politics of Terrorism class worked to convert the Global Terrorism Database 2002-2020 data into country-year data and then merge that with the "V-Dem" Varieties of Democracy Dataset (v13). Our hope is that other students and scholars can use this combined dataset to explore connections between terrorism and regime type. If the downloads give you trouble feel free to email Keiber directly. - Dataset Explainer (pdf) - Dataset (xls) 82Mb - Dataset (csv) 62Mb Please visit the University of Maryland START Global Terrorism Database page (here) and the Varieties of Democracy page (here) for more information on these amazing resources. Climate Change Policy for Ohio - June 2021
In December 2020 Princeton University published Net-Zero America, a report detailing how the U.S. can achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The Princeton report (here) is extraordinary but immensely technical. Our team studied the report and translated some of its findings for Ohio policy makers and climate advocates. Ohio has a lot of work to do in the struggle against climate change. This is a great place to start. Here's an opinion essay we spun off from this report, published in the Akron Beacon Journal.
